FLUSHING CISTERN TYPES – THE PERFECT FLUSH

Which bathroom aesthetic is the perfect one for you? Are you looking for a classic style or is a minimalistic modern design more your cup of tea? Regardless of your bathroom design choices, you’ll be aware that the inner workings of your bathroom units, especially the toilet cistern, are just as important as what you see on the outside. The perfect flush can be achieved easily thanks to GROHE and there are a variety of flushing cistern types to choose from. Furthermore, they are as always packed full of GROHE technology to make your bathroom experience as comfortable and effortless as possible. Whether you can see the technology in action or not.

HOW A CISTERN FLUSHES

Cisterns use the force of gravity to flush the toilet bowl. Pressing the button opens up the flush valve so water can freely flow into the toilet bowl. When the water within the cistern fills up and reaches the needed level, the valve closes the fill valve once again and the toilet is ready to be flushed.

  • Flush Lever/ Button: needed to release the water into the bowl
  • Flush valve: opens when flush lever is used
  • Fill valve: when released lets water into the cistern for a refill
  • Syphon: sucks the water in from the cistern, which stops when the cistern is empty

THE PERFECT FLUSH EVERY TIME

However many times you and your family need to use the toilet for your daily absolutions, rest assured that your GROHE flushing cistern (regardless of the type) will get the job done every time without fail for a continuously clean toilet after every use. Predominantly there are two types of flushing cisterns - the concealed type which, as the name suggests, is normally hidden behind the wall and the exposed variety. Both types have their advantages.

CONCEALED FLUSHING CISTERN TYPE

The concealed type of flushing cistern is a smart choice especially in smaller bathrooms and in bathrooms where a minimal design choice is preferred. The cistern is installed behind the wall, which also helps to reduce noise when flushing. The concealed flushing cistern type from GROHE comes with a host of features, the GROHE Concealed Flushing Cistern, for example, has a dual flush system of 6 litres and 3 litres, which is perfect for saving water depending on your bathroom needs. It also comes with GROHE EcoJoy technology and the round chrome push button is finished with GROHE StarLight technology.

The only visible sign of a concealed flushing cistern type is the flush plate. GROHE has a whole host of designer flush plates to choose from that will complement your bathroom design. The GROHE Skate Cosmopolitan Flush Plate integrates classic design with water-saving technology thanks to GROHE EcoJoy, which can reduce water consumption by up to 50%. If hygiene and luxury are your top priorities then you could also choose the GROHE Tectron Bau E, which is a touchless WC flush plate. You can even determine the flushing duration and flush volume yourself.

EXPOSED FLUSHING CISTERN TYPE

Exposed flushing cisterns are a more traditional type of cistern and have the benefit of being easily accessible for more effortless maintenance. Generally, they are attached to the back of the toilet and could potentially also be refilled manually in case of water supply issues. You could opt for the GROHE Euro Ceramic Cistern that not only boasts a modern silhouette but also includes a flushing set with dual flush and concealed inlet and outlet. Ideal if you want a clean, modern bathroom look. For an effortless installation, choose GROHE Rapid SL Installation Set which can hold up to 400kg in weight. The GROHE Bau Ceramic Exposed Flushing Cistern works seamlessly in a contemporary themed bathroom - the smooth Alpine White vitreous china is tough and durable, perfect for years of continued use.
