Call of the wild

Giraffa

Giraffa pattern created in mosaic tiles from Bizassa

An entire animal print bathroom is not for the faint-hearted. So unless your name is Hugh Hefner and you’re planning a re-fit of Playboy mansion, think twice before you commit to tiling all four walls and the floor.

For an exotic bathing space, look to the catwalk for inspiration. Mix a safari-toned palette of beige and stone with bold accents of leopard and python and bring the wilderness inside.

Pair bold patterns with a neutral ground, to create a feature wall. The Giraffa design from Bisazza is suitable for use on walls and floors. Made using Opus Romano enamelled glass mosaic tiles, the design comes on paper-faced sheets that measure 322 x 322mm.

When used in moderation, exotically-patterned tiles and sanitaryware will add drama to your bathoom. Even a single horizontal strip will make an impact. From an en-suite bathroom, you can then carry the look through to the bedroom with an animal print rug.

The Jungle collection of sanitaryware from Ceramica Cielo features surface textures which mimic python and crocodile skin, while the Animier Collection of ceramic tiles from Settecento replicates cobra, leopard and zebra skins in a range on natural and fantasy colourways – tiles are available in the 240 x 720mm, 119 x 720mm and 119 x 24mm sizes.
